Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to book a school trip
We’re included some common questions below. However, if you need to ask anything at all, simply call 01827 713438

  • What facilities are there?

Along with the attractions and discovery sessions, Plantasia offers toilet and hand washing facilities, a well-equipped classroom, picnic areas, gift shop, large free car park and plenty of room to let off steam.

  • How many children can I bring?

Up to 90 children can visit the site at any one time. When making an initial booking you will be allocated a time slot and given a timetable that you will be expected to stick to. This timetable has been carefully planned so that you get the best possible experience from your visit. To make sure everyone gets the most from their visit, we may have to split large groups into two or three smaller groups.

  • How many adults do I need to bring?

Our pricing structures are based on a ratio of one adult for every six children. However, there are no fixed rules around the staff to pupil ratio. Of course, you will be responsible for the behaviour and discipline of the children in your care, so it is important that you have a high enough ratio of adult supervisors to ensure your pupil's safety. You will need to take into account any medical needs, along with the age of the children.

  • Is there a shop?

There is a gift shop on site, which has many pocket money gifts. If you like, you will be allocated a time during which your pupils will be able to visit the shop. We do ask that children are supervised in the shop at all times. Alternatively, goody bags can be provided; simply order them when you make your booking.

  • How do I book?

To ensure that you are allocated the date and the time slot of your choice, a provisional telephone booking should be made as far in advance as possible. You will then be sent out a booking form which should be completed and returned to us, along with a 50% non-refundable deposit. Cheques should be made payable to Atherstone Visitor Centre. When we receive the deposit, we will confirm your booking and send an invoice for the remainder of the balance. You need to make this final payment at least six weeks before your visit. If you are booking with less than six weeks to go, you’ll need to send payment within seven days of booking. Pre-visits are available for teachers and leaders. These visits take place outside of school hours (after 3pm) and must be pre-arranged. Unfortunately, pre-visits are not available during school holidays.

  • What should we wear?

Full school uniform isn’t suitable, as the children may get muddy. School t-shirts and jumpers are best teamed with long trousers. This protects the legs from exposure to the sun, and protects against midges and plants such as brambles and nettles. During the summer a sun hat and sunscreen is recommended and a hat, scarf and gloves in the winter months. Waterproof coats are recommended for any time of the year, along with stout walking shoes or wellies.

  • How do we get there?

Only 15 minutes from junction 1 on the M69, junction 10 on the M42, or junction 3 on the M6, Plantasia is easily accessible from Warwickshire, Coventry, Solihull and Leicestershire.
